InfoMichelle F. Brownlee is running for State Representative in the 195th Legislative District, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. For the last 35 years, she has worked in the legislative district office of State Representative Frank Oliver. She started working in the office in 1974. How she got there was by offering herself as a volunteer, while in-between jobs. Representative Oliver took her up on the offer. He quickly learned that Michelle F. Brownlee was a fireball and he hired her, giving her the opportunity of a life time,---to be a public servant.

Over the years, she worked her way up to Chief of Staff, the old fashioned way: Through hard work, diligence, commitment, loyalty, positive energy and love for the community. Working in the office of a legislator, she has assisted countless people who live in the district with concerns related to helping constituents with a myriad of issues ranging from keeping their homes from foreclosures, to handling unemployment compensation matters, to helping constituents maneuver through the public welfare system and the public education system.

Being a smart and savvy public servant, Michelle F. Brownlee has known for a long time that even in a position as State Representative, you cannot always help your constituents unless you have positive working relationship with district councilpersons, council-persons at large, city managers from the water department to the tax department to utility company decision-makers.

She has built up, over the years, and has maintained to this day,--- relationships with the council people and others, who can help her, help the people of the 195th district. When people need questions answered and services rendered at the federal level, such as with the Social Security Administration or the Veterans Administration, Brownlee already knows how to connect with the right people to get the answers for the people she has served, under the name of long-time State Representative Frank Oliver.

She knows and is very familiar with many of the non-profit organizations in the 195th district and she also knows the business owners, large and small. So while going to Harrisburg as a Freshman State Representative, what you are really getting with Michelle F. Brownlee is a seasoned worker and public servant for the people of the 195th district.

She is First Ward Chairwoman of the 29th Ward. She is a Committee Person in the 29th Ward, 15th Division, a past member of the board of Directors of the Historic Berean Institute, and also a graduate of the Berean Institute Para-Legal program, which was a two-year program. In 1995 and in 1996, she earned The Judges Honors, a coveted award at Berean Institute. She was also listed in “Who’s Who for Junior Colleges”, in 1996 because of her outstanding achievements while at Berean Institute. Brownlee is also a graduate of a very special pilot education program developed through the Philadelphia Public School District in 1970. She attended The High School Academy for Career Education., very similar to today’s independent charter schools.

She’s a past Chairperson of the Philadelphia School District Head Start Policy Council, having served in 1997-1998. A long time member of Celestial Word Ministries located at 2808 W. Thompson Street in North Philadelphia, she is very active in her church, she is a Licensed missionary,- Past President of the Missionary Board, President of the Pastor’s Aide Committee, Instructor for Wednesday Night Bible Study and Instructor for New Members Class. She also serves as a Board member of the church.

Michelle F. Brownlee is a wife, a mother, grandmother and a well respected community activist. A vote for Michelle F. Brownlee on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, will be a vote for a strong leader, who knows the ropes, who has the connections, who has the experiences and who has the passion, commitment, brains and common sense, who knows what is means to represent the people of the 195th district.
