InfoDiane was elected to the Los Gatos Town Council in 2002, and re-elected in 2006. She is currently in her second term as Mayor, having previously served as Mayor in 2005-06. She is on the West Valley Sanitation District Board of Directors and is a member of the Small Cities Council of the National League of Cities, which serves as a resource to and advocate for more than 19,000 cities, towns and villages in the U.S. She has represented Los Gatos on several regional bodies of elected officials, such as the countywide Emergency Preparedness Council and the Santa Clara Valley Water Commission, as well as numerous committees within Town government.

Diane has also been an active member of the community outside of Los Gatos including terms on the Board of Directors of the San Jose Children's Health Council, the Nonprofit Development Center (now Compasspoint), the Friends of Guadalupe River Park, and the Arts Council of Santa Clara County. She has also served on PR/marketing committees for the YWCA, the American Cancer Society, the San Jose Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the San Jose Chamber of Commerce.



Professional Experience

In college and early in her career, Diane worked as a reporter for a daily newspaper, a music industry magazine, and in public relations and marketing positions at San Jose State University. She started her own business in 1982 and as principal of McNutt & Company, Inc. has created and managed regional and national public relations programs for all types of businesses and organizations.



For the past few years, Diane has focused on public education programs for municipalities and public agencies, community relations strategies for Silicon Valley corporations, and marketing campaigns for nonprofit organizations. In 2004 her work on the grand opening celebration of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library won the "Best of the Silver Anvil" Award from the Public Relations Society of America, the most prestigious national PR award. She was also the founder of the Certificate in Marketing Communications Program at San Jose State University, and she taught professional development seminars for almost 20 years. She is past president of the South Bay Public Relations Roundtable and the Santa Clara Valley chapter of Women In Communications, Inc. Education

Diane holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a Master of Science degree in mass communications from San Jose State University.

Diane has been a resident of Los Gatos since 1972. She is married to Michael Cronk and has one daughter, Jillian.
