Info | Retired airline pilot who was the nominee for US Vice President in the election of 1980.
Varnum worked early in his life as an orchardist and as an agricultural investment realtor. While serving in the military, Varnum became acquainted with airplanes. He was a flight training instructor of the US Army. After leaving the Army, Varnum worked in various airline-related functions and then became an airplane pilot for American Airlines.
After his retirement from AA, Varnum lived in Ventura CA. He was affiliated with the Thomas Anderson faction of the American Independent Party, then with the American Party. In 1980, Varnum was nominated for US Vice President, running on a ticket with Percy Greaves.
After his VP candidacy, Varnum moved to Roseburg OR.
