InfoSlade grew up in Montevallo, AL, in the heart of Shelby County. He graduated in a class of 98 students from Montevallo High School and went on to put himself through college on a full basketball scholarship at the University of Montevallo, earning a B.S. degree in Commercial Design and Business. Slade attended the Enon Baptist Church in Calera, AL and was baptized in Mahan Creek on the outskirts of Montevallo. Slade’s father worked in higher education and his mother was a school teacher, consequently, they instilled in Slade and his two brothers (Taylor and Austin) the value of education from an early age. They also gave their sons a strong work ethic and a desire for entrepreneurship…traits Slade exemplifies well today.

In 1994, Slade married his high school sweetheart, Sally Salter. Sally grew up on a farm in rural Shelby County and graduated with 28 students from Shelby Academy, a small Christian school. She received her undergrad degree from the University of Alabama and went on to UAB Medical School in Birmingham, AL, and is a physician at Shelby Baptist Medical Center and St. Vincent’s Hospital. Slade and Sally have lived in Jefferson County for 15 years, currently live in Mountain Brook, and are members of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Homewood, AL where their children were baptized. They have three children: Colby and Grant, 7 year old twins, and Hagen, age 5. All three children attend Mountain Brook Elementary School.

Slade has strong work ethics that contribute to his business success. Believing that challenges strengthen you and hard decisions test your spirit, he works hard to do what is ethically and morally right. This philosophy guides him in his personal life and is the foundation of his professional career.

After graduating from college, Slade went to work for Colonial Properties, serving as their Acquisitions and Development Manager for Colonial Properties Trust, the largest diversified real estate investment trust (REIT) in the United States at the time. Then, having an entrepreneurial spirit, he opened his own company, Inkana Development, in 1996. A fully integrated real estate company, Inkana, LLC specializes in real estate and development structuring for complex projects, partnerships, and joint ventures in the healthcare and infrastructure industries. Owning a small business has given Slade a first hand experience in the challenges faced by small businesses and the sacrifice, dedication, and hard work it takes to be successful.

Slade is currently a member of the Birmingham Business Alliance, Mountain Brook and Greater Shelby County Chambers of Commerce, the Alabama Republican Party, and a Board Member of Birmingham Golf Association (serving junior golf). Additionally, he has served as a volunteer basketball coach for Berry Middle School and Mountain Brook Athletics. Also, Slade has completed several Ironman Triathlon’s.

Being a solutions-oriented businessman as well as a concerned citizen of Jefferson and Shelby County, Slade serves as Chairman of JeffCoCan www.jeffcocan.com a citizens’ coalition dedicated to solving the Jefferson County sewer debt crisis. He is a strong, conservative, fiscally responsible Republican who believes it is necessary to change Alabama’s political landscape for our state to have a bright future.
