InfoGreg J. Reed was born in Jasper, Alabama and grew up in Cordova, Alabama in south Walker County. He is the son of Rufus and Patsy Collier Reed of Jasper and has one sister Angie and her husband George Lum and their son Reed of Jasper. Greg was a bright student, a football player, and Student Government President while at Cordova High School. He continued his education at Walker College now Bevill State Community College in Jasper. Greg transferred to The University of Alabama and was involved with Student Government as well as other campus activities. Upon graduation from Alabama he began what has now been a 22 year business career. In 1988 Greg married his high school sweetheart the former Mitsy Harbison of Cordova, Alabama. Mitsy’s parents are Charles and Betty Black Harbison of Cordova. After a few years living in Mississippi they returned to Alabama as Greg’s career in business continued. Greg and Mitsy have been married for 21 years and have three sons. Their sons Andrew and James are 15 year old twins and John Michael is 13 years old. The Reed boys attend Jasper City Schools in the 9th and 7th grades.

Greg continued his business career and his involvement in Republican campaigns including 1990 Guy Hunt for Governor and John Hawkins for House. In 1997 Greg was elected chairman of the Walker County Republican Party and served in that post for 4 years. In 2000 Greg was elected Senior Vice Chairman of the Alabama State Republican Party and continued to serve in that position for 8 years. Greg’s primary focus during his years as a leader in the Republican Party was grassroots organization and a continued promotion of the conservative principles that define the party. Greg has been involved with the support and organization of recent political campaigns across Alabama. Greg has been recognized as a leader in our communities and is known as a man of strong ethical standard and unwavering principle.

Greg has worked in the medical equipment industry since 1991. He has been for the past six years Vice President of Preferred Medical Systems. Preferred Medical is an exclusive representative of diagnostic medical ultrasound systems in six states for General Electric Healthcare. His business career has offered many opportunities to learn the requirements for encouraging economic growth and development.

Greg and Mitsy are active members and young adult Sunday school teachers at First Baptist Church of Jasper, Alabama. Greg is a member of the Jasper Rotary Club and is a Paul Harris Fellow Rotarian. He enjoys being a sportsman, hunter and a gun-owner. Greg is very involved in local school activities with his three sons and a supporter of local sports activities for kids.
Greg J. Reed is a candidate for the Alabama State Senate District # 5 covering all of Walker county and portions of Jefferson, Tuscaloosa and Winston counties.
