Info | TENER, John Kinley, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in County Tyrone, Ireland, July 25, 1863; immigrated to the United States with his parents, who settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., in 1872; attended the public and high schools; was employed by manufacturing firms and corporations in and about Pittsburgh; engaged as a professional baseball player 1885-1890; entered the banking business in Charleroi, Pa., in 1901, serving as cashier and later as president of the First National Bank; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first Congress and served from March 4, 1909, to January 16, 1911, when he resigned, having been elected Governor; Governor of Pennsylvania 1911-1915; president of the National League of Professional Baseball Clubs 1914-1918; elected as director of the Philadelphia National League Baseball Club in 1931; engaged in the insurance business until his death; died in Pittsburgh Pa., May 19, 1946; interment in Homewood Cemetery.
