InfoSteve Heacock’s extensive background includes executive management, legal and accounting practice and significant community work. Steve has served as the Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel of Van Andel Institute (VAI) since 2005. Prior to joining VAI, Steve was Chief Legal and Administrative Officer for a development stage health products company (2002-2004); Vice President of Development for Priority Health (1997-2002); a partner with the law firm Warner Norcross & Judd (1984-1997); and a CPA with Price Waterhouse (1978-1982). Steve is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Michigan State University.

Steve chairs the Convention and Arena Authority, which owns and operates the Van Andel Arena and the DeVos Place convention and entertainment center. He also chairs the board for the West Michigan Strategic Alliance. Steve serves on the boards of the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Committee, World Affairs Council of Western Michigan, ClinXus, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan, and First Steps. Previously, Steve chaired and served on the Kent County Board of Commissioners. He has received numerous personal and professional recognitions including:
