Info | PHISTER, Elijah Conner, a Representative from Kentucky; born in Maysville, Mason County, Ky., October 8, 1822; attended the Seminary of Rand and Richardson, Maysville, Ky., and was graduated from Augusta College, Kentucky, in August 1840; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in 1844; mayor of Maysville in 1848; circuit judge 1856-1862; member of the State house of representatives 1867-1871; appointed one of the commissioners to revise the State statutes in 1872 but declined; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-sixth and Forty-seventh Congresses (March 4, 1879-March 3, 1883); resumed the practice of law; died in Maysville, Ky., May 16, 1887; interment in the City Cemetery.
