Roger Hanson’s regiment; moved to Mount Sterling, Montgomery County, Ky., in November 1854 and continued the practice of law; member of the State house of representatives 1861-1863; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fifth and Forty-sixth Congresses (March 4, 1877-March 3, 1881); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1880 to the Forty-seventh Congress; resumed the practice of law; died in Mount Sterling, Ky., on September 11, 1900; interment in Macpelah Cemetery.
