| Info | Sidney Runyan Thomas (born August 14, 1953, Bozeman, Montana) is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Judge Thomas received his Bachelors degree from Montana State University in 1975 and his Juris Doctor with honors from the University of Montana School of Law in 1978.
Prior to being nominated to the Ninth Circuit, Thomas had been a partner at a law firm in Billings, Montana and had worked in private practice since 1978. He also had been a member of the state Board of Regents of Higher Education.
Thomas had specialized in government, bankruptcy and media law while a partner at his firm, Moulton, Bellingham, Longo & Mather.
Thomas also had served as an adjunct instructor in law at Rocky Mountain College, beginning in 1982, and had served as the standing bankruptcy trustee for all bankruptcy cases filed in the Billings Division of the United States District Court for the District of Montana from 1978 until 1981.
