InfoHENDRICK, John Kerr, a Representative from Kentucky; born in Caswell County, N.C., October 10, 1849; moved with his parents to Logan County and later to Todd County, Ky., attended private schools and Bethel College, Russellville, Ky., moved to Crittenden County, Ky., in 1869 and engaged in teaching school; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1874 and commenced practice in Smithland, Ky.; prosecuting attorney of Livingston County, 1878-1886; member of the State Senate, 1887-1891; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1888; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1895-March 3, 1897); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1896; resumed the practice of law in Paducah, Ky., where he died June 20, 1921; interment in Maplelawn Cemetery.
