Info | WARNER, Richard, a Representative from Tennessee; born near Chapel Hill, Marshall County, Tenn., September 19, 1835; attended the public schools and was graduated from the law department of Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tenn., in 1858; was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Lewisburg, Tenn.; served in the Confederate Army 1861-1865; returned to Lewisburg, Tenn., and resumed the practice of law; delegate to the convention that framed the new constitution of Tennessee in 1870; member of the State house of representatives, 1879-1881; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-seventh and Forty-eighth Congresses (March 4, 1881-March 3, 1885); chairman, Committee on Mines and Mining (Forty-eighth Congress); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1884; resumed the practice of law in Lewisburg, Tenn.; died in Nashville, Tenn., March 4, 1915; interment in Warner Cemetery, near Chapel Hill, Tenn.
