|Info||Jeffrey R. Tobolski was born and raised in the Village of McCook. His mother, Gloria (Snyder) also resides in the village. Jeff’s father was the late Mayor Raymond Tobolski. Raymond Tobolski served on the McCook Fire Department, and then became the Chief of Police with forty years of service. Ray served as Mayor of McCook, but passed away suddenly mid-term. |
Jeff is a graduate of St. Hugh School in Lyons, Illinois. He also graduated with honors from St. Joseph High School in Westchester. He continued his education at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois, and earned a BA in history.
Jeff served as a Trustee for the McCook Park District and then as President. He then served as a Village of McCook Trustee for six years, and was appointed interim Mayor of McCook in 2007. In 2009 he was elected Mayor of McCook to a four year term.
Mayor Tobolski worked for Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company for fifteen years as a claim’s adjuster, spending the last five working with the Special Investigations Unit investigating insurance fraud. Jeff then worked for Standard Mutual Insurance Company as a Field Claims Adjuster before leaving the position to become a part-time, interim Mayor for the Village of McCook.
Mayor Tobolski has reduced a $2.5 million deficit, while increasing personnel on the Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments without raising taxes. He has secured the MAX indoor sports arena on behalf of the Village of McCook. 363,000 people pass through the youth-oriented facility every year. The Village has two successful business parks currently in development, with two buildings being built this year. Over 500 new jobs will or have come to these business parks. Both are TIF in conjunction with a corporate enterprise zone.
Jeff is married to Cathleen (Patterson), and together they have an eight year-old daughter, Emily. Jeff is a parishioner at St. Cletus Church. He is also a member of Aging Well Connections, the West Central Chamber of Commerce, and the Founder of the Lyons-McCook Business Association.
