Throughout his life and career Michael Allegretti has exemplified each of these simple, yet powerful components of effective leadership. Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, along with leaders across the nation and around the world have looked to Michael for counsel on some of the most pressing public policy issues of our day.

As Congressman, Michael will be a powerful voice for Staten Island and Brooklyn.
Leveraging his proven ability to forge innovative partnerships between people, industry and government, Michael has the experience to tackle the challenges we face to bring new energy to the economies of Staten Island and Brooklyn.

Michael has witnessed first-hand the challenges workers and business owners face.
A lifelong resident of the 13th Congressional District, he learned early on the power of small business innovation and the jobs it can produce, but also the negative impacts of bad public policy. His family’s business, Bayside Fuel Oil has been a steady presence in New York City for more than 75 years.

He understands the needs of the private sector.
He believes that good government should be limited and innovative, not overbearing and oppressive. Today he helps Fortune 500 companies and officials at the local, state and Federal levels of government work together to ensure businesses can prosper while helping to improve the quality of life in their communities.

Michael is already a powerful voice in Washington.
He has been at the center of the global energy debate, calling for improvements to America’s energy and environmental policies that strengthen our economy. He believes that the time has come for policymakers to put solutions before politics and finally address runaway taxes, reckless spending, our environment and how we power our way of life.

He works closely with Governors, Members of Congress and Heads of State.
Leaders look to Michael to help them understand the economic opportunities associated with taking smart action on energy needs. Michael is presently Director of Government Relations for The Climate Group, the only international organization dedicated to accelerating leadership towards common sense environmental solutions that grow our economy. In 2007, he served as a consultant to the Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy and Director of Climate Initiatives at the Partnership for New York City. In 2002, he served as an advisor to the World Economic Forum.

Michael has a proven ability to forge innovative policy solutions.
In a time when our people need help, Michael is ready to make government work for them through fresh ideas and solutions that work. In 2007, he brought together the mayors from the world’s 40 most important cities (from Bangkok to Cairo to Tokyo) and the CEOs of 15 of the world’s most influential companies for three days to create a global public-private collaboration to tackle the world’s energy challenges. In 2009 he was accepted as a member of the British American Project, a group of leaders in the public, private and non-profit sectors who are committed to addressing transatlantic public policy issues.

Michael is a committed fiscal conservative.
He has worked to advance the principles and ideals of smaller, efficient, common sense government for more than a decade. Michael served as Deputy Field Director for the re-election campaign of Mayor Bloomberg, Associate Director for Delegate & Caucus Operations for the 2004 Republican National Convention and Special Assistant and Director of Operations to New York State Senator Marty Golden. He continues his commitment today as Vice Chairman of the Kings County Republican Party.

Active in the community that has shaped his life.
Michael serves on the Development Committee of the Federation of Italian-American Organizations, the Advisory Board of the Guild for Exceptional Children, and the sustainability committee of Poly Prep Country Day School.

Michael holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, a BA in History from Boston College and a Diploma in International Relations from Sciences-Po in France.
