InfoThe son of a Senior Naval Officer, Steve Johnson was born on May 7, 1963. Like most “military brats” Steve moved with his family, following his father’s assignments. In 1974 they arrived at their final destination, the U.S. Army War College, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Steve attended the Carlisle Public Schools. Involved in the Boy Scouts, Steve was awarded the coveted rank of Eagle Scout at just 14.

As a high school senior, Steve was elected class president at Carlisle High. Steve attended the Pennsylvania State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (1986). Steve was elected President of the Student Body at Penn State. As President, Steve represented over 30,000 students at the Penn State’s 19 Commonwealth campuses. After college, Steve did post graduate study and earned a Master of Science from Shippensburg University.

At the age of 17, he joined the U.S. Army Reserve so he could prepare to serve his country. During Steve’s thirteen years of military service in the U.S. Army Reserve he rose from the rank of Private to Captain. During this period, Steve was mobilized in Operation Desert Shield/Storm where he was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal.

In 1993 Steve founded a small business. He still serves as CEO of Homecheck, Inc. which he started with some personal savings, a commitment to customer service and an abundance of entrepreneurial spirit. Sixteen years later, Homechek, Inc. is one of the most successful building inspection companies in Central Pennsylvania. Since Steve’s creation of Homechek, it has assisted more than 60,000 families in obtaining home ownership.

Steve and his family are active members of the Living Word Community Church in Red Lion, PA. Steve lives in York County with Jane, his wife of 17 years. They are the proud parents of four children, Ian (13) Olivia (11), Philip (8) and Matthew (7).

Steve still serves the Boy Scouts as a volunteer with the York-Adams Area Council of Boy Scouts. For five years he was a Cubmaster for a unit of 90 scouts and now serves as a scout leader for his three active sons. Steve is also the chairman of the Friends of Scouting Campaign. Steve is a member of the York County Chamber of Commerce, Reserve Officers Association, the American Legion, and the National Federation of Independent Business.
