S. revenue cutter McCulloch when it participated in the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1903-March 3, 1913); unsuccessful candidate for reelection; elected to the Sixty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1915-March 3, 1917); unsuccessful candidate for renomination; engaged in the lumber business at Au Sable, Mich.; killed in an automobile accident at Myrtle Point, Mich., November 13, 1925; interment in Au Sable Cemetery, Oscoda, Mich.
