Info | YOUNG, Horace Olin, a Representative from Michigan; born in New Albion, Cattaraugus County, N.Y., August 4, 1850; attended the common schools and high school of Albion, N.Y., and Randolph (N.Y.) Institute; moved to Ishpeming, Mich.; engaged in accounting; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1879 and commenced practice in Ishpeming, Mich.; member of the State house of representatives in 1879; prosecuting attorney of Marquette County 1886-1896; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-eighth and to the four succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1903-March 3, 1913); presented credentials as a Member-elect to the Sixty-third Congress and served from March 4, 1913, until his resignation, effective May 16, 1913, while a contest for the seat was pending; president of the Miners’ National Bank in Ishpeming; died in Ishpeming, Mich., August 5, 1917; interment in the City Cemetery.
