InfoPhilip Lader is a partner of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP in Charleston, where he advises clients on matters involving international business, real estate, government, and corporate matters. Additional positions held by Mr. Lader include Non-executive Chairman of WPP Group plc, the global advertising and communications group (which includes J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy & Mather, Young & Rubicam, Hill & Knowlton, Grey Global, and Burson-Marsteller) with 2,000 offices and 92,000 employees in 106 countries, and senior adviser to Morgan Stanley. Mr. Lader also serves as a director of Lloyd's of London, RAND Corporation, AES Corporation, Marathon Oil Corporation, a trustee of St. Paul’s Cathedral, the Salzburg Seminar, and the British Museum and on board of Visitors of Harvard Law School, Columbia University, Yale Divinity School and Duke University’s Public Policy Institute.

A former U.S. Ambassador to the Court of St. James's, Mr. Lader was confirmed by the U.S. Senate three times without dissent. A member of the President's Cabinet when he served as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration, Mr. Lader formerly served as White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Assistant to the President, and Deputy Director for Management of the Office of Management and Budget. Previously, he was president of the Sea Pines Company, the developer/operator of award-winning large-scale recreation communities, and executive vice president of Sir James Goldsmith's U.S. interests, including America's largest private landholdings, sixth-largest forest products company, largest computer supplies company, and other diverse interests. In addition to founding Renaissance Weekends, the non-partisan family retreats for innovative leaders, he has served as president of universities in South Carolina and Australia.

Mr. Lader is an Honorary Fellow of Pembroke College, Oxford University, and the London Business School, an Honorary Bencher of the Middle Temple (British Inns of Court), and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Chief Executives Organization. Candidate for South Carolina governor in 1986, he was president of Business Executives for National Security and served on the boards of the American Red Cross, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, and several banks and universities. He holds the John C. West Professorship in Government and International Studies at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, has been awarded honorary doctorates by 14 universities and colleges, and was the recipient of the 2001 Benjamin Franklin Award by The Royal Society for The Arts, Manufacturers, and Sciences in recognition of his contributions to trans-Atlantic relations.

Mr. Lader's education includes a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School, a Master of Arts in History from The University of Michigan, graduate studies in law at Oxford University, and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, where he was Phi Beta Kappa. He also was a law clerk on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
