James W. Knepper, Jr. was born on May 12, 1932 in Bellefonte. He received his Bachelor of Science from Carnegie Mellon University. He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, 82nd Airborne Division from 1954-1957.
Knepper was president of Knepper Press Corporation; Pennsylvania Newspaper Publisher's Association; Greater Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind; Andrew Carnegie Free Library; Chartiers Area Chamber of Commerce; South Hills Chorale; Rotary; former member, Pennsylvania House of Representatives, 1970-1980; President of the Carlynton School Board, 1968-1970; former newspaper publisher; author of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Law.
He was appointed Executive Director of the Human Resource Committee, July 1, 1983 and appointed Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry, September 10, 1984.
Currently living in ST. MICHAELS, MD 21663.
