Info | Joanna Conti is an international businesswoman and an involved mom and stepmom to four children between the ages of 8 and 18. A chemical engineer by training, she was a manager for both Procter & Gamble and the Campbell Soup Company before starting her own food and software companies in the late-1980s and 1990s. She has done extensive domestic and international marketing consulting and has a Master's degree in International Business.
When Joanna sees a need, she takes action. For example, when she learned about the tragic conditions affecting millions of orphans in the developing world, she started an international non-profit to help them. Three years later, the Alliance for Youth Achievement, Inc. (AYA) works with over 50 grassroots organizations in eight countries in Africa and Asia. 4,500 children were helped last year alone, and hundreds of destitute families have used small AYA loans or grants to start income-generating activities to lift themselves out of poverty.
Joanna has become increasingly concerned over the last few years about how President Bush and the Republican members of Congress are leading the country. She believes strongly that what has made American such a wonderful country to live in is that Americans have always been willing to do whatever was necessary to strengthen the country for the future. The policies of the current administration are weakening our country, not strengthening it, by running up the biggest deficits in our countrys history, alienating other countries, ignoring Americans in need, and emasculating our environmental protections.
Colorados Congressional District 6 has the opportunity to replace a single-issue Congressman with a thoughtful woman of integrity. Joanna speaks her mind, even on controversial issues, and knows how to find innovative solutions to tough problems. It is high time for CD 6 to have someone of Joanna Contis caliber in our nations capital, pursuing solutions to the issues that concern us.
