Info | Southern Illinois is incredibly hungry for someone who says what he thinks and will stand up to special interest. We must do what is right. We must bring our priorities back to Southern Illinois. Jobs, community, and country must be considered first before jobs are exported solely for higher corporate profits.
Dr. Tim Bagwell of Olney, Illinois, is President of New World Sciences Corporation. New World Sciences has developed suicide hotline software, digital print reproductions, and publishes Internet journals such as ITEmploymentAdvisors.com and The Spinoza Net. CI - Crisis Interventions, the suicide hotline software, was in use in Madison County for nearly three years.
Tims parents, Mary Kirkendoll Bagwell and Clessie Bagwell, are Roosevelt-era Democrats. They met while she was working for the National Youth Administration; he was assigned to the Civilian Conservation Corps. Hard work and education were the values Mary and Clessie instilled in their children. Clessie was a farmer and independent oil operator. Mary was Service Officer Associate at the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs. Mary retired from the state in 1981; Clessie passed away in 1993.
Tim attended Olney Central College. He received a B.A. in History and Political Science and a B.S. in Radio and Television from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1978. He earned his M.S. in Speech Communication from SIU-C in 1985. Tim did additional graduate work at The American University in Washington, D.C., and with the U.S. Naval War Colleges off-campus program. Tim completed his Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy Analysis from Saint Louis University in 2001. His research examined due-process issues within the federal student loan program. Tim is president of the Saint Louis University, College of Public Service Alumni Board.
Tim worked with the Department of Defense (National Image and Mapping Agency) in Washington, D.C., from 1980 to 1984. He has worked as an information systems consultant at BJC Health System, HealthSouth, Behavioral Health Alternatives, American Bottoms Regional Waste Water Treatment Facility, Graybar Electric, and Deutsche Financial Services. Tim teaches e-business with the University of Phoenix Online program. He has taught at Webster University in St. Louis, Howard University, The American University, University of Maryland, and Northern Virginia Community College in the Washington, D.C., area. Tim lectured on American legal realism at Tel Aviv University in June 2001.
The traditional progressive economics of the Democrat Party is the foundation of Tim Bagwells platform. Economic Opportunity, Responsibility, Security and Equality for All are the core values of this platform. Job creation, the rights of working people, education for our children, reasonable health care options, and a secure retirement are the operating principles that frame the policies proposed by his campaign. Fighting the policies of market fundamentalism that places profits before people, cheap labor before community, and corporations before country, is the rallying point of his campaign.
