|Info||Ami Bera has always believed in hard work and community service—and refuses to accept a future where our children and grandchildren don’t have the amazing opportunities that he did. A first generation American, Ami benefited from California’s public schools, from kindergarten through medical school. |
After he graduated, Ami put his degree to work for us, serving Sacramento County as Chief Medical Officer. He used his skills as a tough negotiator to fight to reduce the cost of health care, create jobs, and deliver care to tens of thousands of Sacramento residents.
Ami went on to become a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Admissions and Outreach at UC Davis, where he taught the next generation of doctors to care for patients. He helped the student-run clinics find innovative ways to engage with the community and deliver care to those who needed it the most.
Ami and his wife Janine live in Elk Grove with their daughter, Sydra. Today, he’s running for Congress because Washington needs a new kind of leadership. As our Representative, he will put people first. That is the only way we can create jobs, save Medicare, and bring about a better future for our children and grandchildren.
