|Info||Scott is no stranger to hard work. His father Joe, was a barber and his mother Sylvia, was a registered nurse for over 44 years at Fort Meade Veterans Hospital. Together, they instilled values of hard work and dedication to family in all of their children. In fact, Scott, along with his parents, brother and sister, built the DesJarlais family home themselves over the course of ten years - a home his father and mother live in to this day. |
Scott’s first job was as the shoeshine boy in his dad’s barbershop, making twenty-five cents per shine. He also worked at a local car dealership's service shop, returning to that job each summer during college to earn money to pay for his education.
Scott earned degrees in Chemistry and Psychology from the University of South Dakota and received his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine.
Scott has been practicing medicine in Tennessee for almost two decades, seeing patients at the Grand View Medical Center in Jasper. Over the course of the past year, he noticed that conversations were changing from talk about hunting, fishing and grandchildren to politics and anger over a government that was firmly on the path towards Socialism. Frustrated by the current state of leadership in this country and determined to make things better for his three young children, Scott decided to enter the race for Congress in the Fourth District of Tennessee.
Scott and his wife Amy, have three children: Tyler, Ryan and their little sister Maggie. The DesJarlais family are active members of the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Sherwood, Tennessee where Amy grew up.
