InfoGary Grasso is a well-respected litigation attorney and former Mayor seeking the Republican nomination for Illinois Attorney General. He is a 5-year Republican member of the DuPage County Board and Chairman of the DuPage 911 Board – the largest 911 Board in the state. With his experience and qualifications obtained through 39 years as a litigator, Gary is the best qualified candidate to be our next Attorney General.

Gary is the only candidate with the extensive public service and the right legal experience necessary to eradicate the clout plagued epidemic that systemically infects government in Illinois. Our state desperately needs an Attorney General whose priority will be to vigorously pursue those who use their power to profit, instead of honoring their oath to serve and protect Illinois. Gary will independently fight for the powerless, the exposed and the vulnerable across Illinois, no matter who is in the Governor's mansion.

As a Member of the DuPage County Board, Gary was among the first officials to publicly recognize the heroin epidemic infecting DuPage County. He vigorously advocated for funding school programs to educate students of the potentially irreversible addiction to heroin and other opioids. With 12 years of service as a former Member of the DuPage County Board of Health, Gary is staunchly committed to taking the fight over opioid addiction directly to the pharmaceutical companies who irresponsibly downplayed the addictive nature of opioids and incentivized doctors to prescribe them. Opioids have caused wide-spread pain and death for families across Illinois.

Several Illinois states attorneys recently have joined the fight against those responsible for this epidemic in Illinois. As Attorney General, Gary will add the State of Illinois to the battle. Just as importantly when we win this fight, Gary will not allow the General Assembly to waste the money, like the General Assembly did with the Tobacco settlement money. Gary will ensure that all the money goes to the people for rehabilitation and treatment of the victims and future education of our children about the dangers of opioids.

Illinois' economy is crippled by our government's nearly junk bond interest rates due to unsustainable public pensions. In 2007, Gary was one of the first mayors to warn that public pensions were unsustainable. Gary will advocate for fair public pensions with adequate funding. He will fight against double and triple pensioners, and those officials who spike salaries to raise a person’s taxpayer funded pension. These pension practices steal taxpayer money and those responsible will be prosecuted for abuse.

Gary and his wife Janet will be celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this spring. Together they have raised six children. Their family has continued to grow thanks to the addition of their two daughters-in-law, two grandsons and newly born granddaughter. Janet is an international flight attendant with American Airlines. She graduated from St. Mary's College, then later earned her law degree from DePaul. She also is a former Trustee of the Village of Burr Ridge (2013-2017).

Gary was the first in his extended family to graduate from college. He is a proud graduate of Georgetown University and Fordham University Law School, which he attended at night for four years while working full-time. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and the Northern District of Illinois federal court. Gary was a member of the Hearing Board of the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission from 2003 to 2005. He was designated as an Illinois Leading Lawyer in 2011 which includes only 5% of attorneys in Illinois and he received the AV Preeminent Rating in 2010 from Martindale-Hubbell, its highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards.
