InfoKyle Johnston grew up in Gretna, Louisiana, moved to Baton Rouge and became a third-generation Catholic High School (CHS) graduate.

In high school, Kyle was captain of the tennis team, earned MVP honors and led his team to a state championship title his senior year. He turned down several athletic scholarships to attend Louisiana State University (LSU) and walk on to an LSU Men’s Tennis Team, ranked second in the country. But leadership and athletics is nothing new to the Johnston family.

His mother is an award-winning elementary school teacher, while his father competed in Ironman events and was once president of the Louisiana Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness. His younger brother, Barrett, is currently president of his class at LSU’s Medical School and engaged to marry Baton Rouge native Shelly Ripple in December.

While Kyle had always been successful and passionate in life, he never considered politics until college. While at LSU, he founded and was elected president of a student political organization, enrolled in the LSU Academy of Politics and interned for his mentor, US Senator John Breaux (D-LA).

This newfound passion for politics extended well beyond the classroom. Kyle teamed with Rhett Morris to organize the non-profit organization YouthElect and worked to publish their first book entitled The Y-Factor: A New Generation Enters Politics, forwarded by Louisiana’s own “Rajun Cajun” James Carville.

After graduating from LSU, Kyle immediately enrolled in Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Management as one of the youngest members of his MBA class.

Kyle has eight brothers and sisters. One sister is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s Academy and two younger brothers, Ryan and Robert, currently attend Catholic High School. Kyle’s youngest sibling is Madison, she is three years old.
