InfoLisa Marie Cheney is a native of Alexandria, Va. She was born at Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, DC on February 17, 1965. When she was 4 days old, she was brought home to Alexandria, Va. by her adopted Mother, Kathryn McKeown. In her early days, Lisa Marie Cheney attended Browne Academy preschool then went on to St. Rita’s elementary school. She is also a graduate of Saint Mary’s Academy, now Bishop Ireton High School.

Lisa Marie Cheney graduated from The George Washington University in 1988 with a B.A. in Political Science. In 2002, she graduated from The Institute for World Politics with a Masters in National Security Statecraft. She is the owner of a government relations consulting firm in Alexandria. Her company, PSMA, Inc., specializes in national security issues, namely, strategic systems and missile defense.

In 1998, Lisa Marie Cheney met her husband, David Peter Cheney, at Wolf Trap. In July 1999 they were married at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Alexandria. David is an active duty Commander in the U.S. Navy and recently completed a tour of duty with the USS Ronald Reagan. They have two children, Matthew and Kathryn, and live in the West End of Alexandria.

Over the years, Lisa Marie has volunteered for a number of local and national organizations. She has been an event volunteer for the Special Olympics, a phone bank volunteer for the Easter Seals telethon, a youth camp counselor for the YMCA, a supporter of Alexandria Family Services adopt a family project, a volunteer for projects associated with the Carpenter Shelter in Alexandria and very active in projects associated with her parish St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Old Town.

While Lisa Marie is not a career politician, she has been active in local and national Republican politics since 1980 when she handed out literature for then Presidential candidate Ronald Reagan. Lisa Marie has worked on the local campaigns of Peter Straub, who ran for City Council in 1990, Bill Cleveland’s City Council, Congressional and Mayoral races, George Allen for Governor, and Senator, a poll volunteer for Kyle McSlarow, Demaris Miller and John Warner’s Congressional races. In the last local election, May 2003, Lisa Marie served as the precinct captain for Tucker Elementary. She is a Member of the Alexandria Republican City Committee, a charter member of the Patriot Republican Women’s Club, and a past Member of the Federation of Republican Women and the Commonwealth Republican Women’s Club and the Alexandria Young Republicans. On the National Level, Lisa Marie Cheney has worked as a member of the George H.W. Bush advance team in 1988, a volunteer coordinator at the 1992 and 1996 Republican Conventions in Houston and San Diego, a Lead Advance for Vice Presidential Candidate Jack Kemp and Presidential Candidate Bob Dole, and a volunteer for George W. Bush.
