Info | Gerald Mullery, Esq. has been a practicing attorney and civil litigation specialist since 1998. A graduate of Duquesne University School of Law and King’s College, Mullery is a life-long resident of the 119th Legislative District, where he is currently running for State Representative.
Mullery, 39, currently of Newport Township, was elected tax collector in Plymouth Township in 1989. He held the post for one term prior to attending law school in Pittsburgh. Upon completion of his Juris Doctor, Mullery returned home and joined the Michael J. O’Connor & Associates law firm in 1998. In 2002, he became in-house counsel for the Lackawanna Insurance Group in Wilkes-Barre, specializing in Pennsylvania Workers Compensation. In 2006, he started his own firm, Kasper & Mullery, LLC in Kingston.
Raised by working-class parents Janet and the late Gerald Mullery, “Jerry” has carried on the values instilled in him by his family.
“My father made shoes for Alta Products in Hanover Township and my mother made pencils on the third shift for Eberhard Faber in Mountain Top, Alta closed and Faber’s productions moved to Mexico,” he recalls, “My father opened Sport-JES Sporting goods in Plymouth, which is still operating successfully today.”
Mullery has coached youth sports (baseball, basketball and soccer) for the past 5 years for South Valley Softball; Greater Nanticoke Area Youth Soccer, Good Shepherd Academy Basketball, and Newport Biddy Basketball. He is President of the Greater Nanticoke Area Youth Soccer Association. Active in his community, Mullery is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 913 in Nanticoke, Ancient Order of Hibernians in Wilkes-Barre, and several Bar associations.
Mullery entered the electoral race for Luzerne County Prothonotary in 2001 and 2009, and was defeated by politically-connected opponents Jill Moran and Nancy Bellas – two names closely associated with the good-old-boys network in Luzerne County.
Mullery has been married to his high school sweetheart, the former Michele Mech of Nanticoke for nearly 15 years and is father of four children.
Mullery ran for prothonotary in 2001, but lost the Democratic nomination to current prothonotary Jill Moran. The two ran on the exact same platform, he said.
