|Info||Clark County Commissioner Rory Reid was raised in the Las Vegas Valley. Prior to Rory's election to the commission, he was active in government and his community. He was appointed to the Nevada Taxicab Authority by Governor Bob Miller and served as Vice Chair. Rory served as a member of the Clark County Citizens Committee on Efficiency in Government and as a legislative aide in the United States House of Representatives. Rory has also served on the Boards of various civic and charitable organizations. |
Rory was elected to the County Commission in November 2002 to serve in Commission District "G." In January 2005, Rory was appointed by his colleague as County Commission Chairman.
Las Vegas Life Magazine recently named Rory the "Best Up and Coming Politician" in southern Nevada.
Rory was chosen by his fellow commissioners to serve on the Criminal Justice Advisory Commission, the Clark County District Board of Health, the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the Las Vegas Valley Water district, the Metropolitan Police Committee on Fiscal Affairs, the Local Law Enforcement Advisory Committee and the Nevada Development Authority. As Chairman of the Commission, Rory has championed the comprehensive reform of the county's planning process and growth management policies. Rory is also proud of the parks and recreation projects that have been constructed in District G since his election including the new Whitney Recreation Center, improvements to the Paradise Recreation Center, a Children's Dental Clinic and various other park projects.
Rory and his wife Cindy are the proud parents of three children.
