|Info||Sheila Selkregg grew up in East Anchorage and she has raised her children, Julia, Anthony, and Joseph O’Malley with in a mile and a half of her Eastside childhood home. Today, Sheila is a full time faculty member in the Public Administration Masters Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage. She is also the owner of Sheila Selkregg and Associates, an Anchorage-based, statewide planning and community development firm. |
As past Planning Director for the Municipality of Anchorage, Sheila designed the Anchorage Bowl Comprehensive Plan process, which received the 2001 First Place National American Planning Association Award for Public Education. She served as the Alaska Director of USDA Rural Development where, with an agency annual budget of $240,000,000, she oversaw community many development projects throughout Alaska. Her work at USDA has been recognized through numerous national awards. She has done extensive organizational development worked in the public and private sectors, and has completed a menu of projects for tribal and non-profit entities, large and small communities, and State and regional governments. She has a PhD in Urban Studies from Portland State University and Masters in Urban Regional Planning University of Oregon where she also did graduate studies in Architecture.
Sheila designed and initiated the Giving From the Heart campaign, an Anchorage collaborative Christmas effort sponsored by United Way. She has served on many public service boards including Catholic Social Services Board of Directors, Clare House Advisory Board, Anchorage Homeless Coalition, Board of Governors Alaska Bar Association, Alaska Affordable Housing Partnership, Anchorage Urban Design Commission, and Commonwealth North-Program Committee.
