Info | HINES, William Henry, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Brooklyn, N.Y., March 15, 1856; moved to Pennsylvania in 1865 with his parents, who settled in Hanover Township, near Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pa.; attended the public schools in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pa.; studied law; was admitted to the bar in Luzerne County in 1881 and practiced; member of the State house of representatives in 1879, 1880, 1883, and 1884; served in the State senate 1888-1892; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress (March 4, 1893-March 3, 1895); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1894 to the Fifty-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of law in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; died there January 17, 1914; interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township, Luzerne County, Pa.
