Info | LYNCH, John, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Providence, R.I., November 1, 1843; moved to Pennsylvania in 1856 with his parents, who settled in Wilkes-Barre; attended the public schools and Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pa.; worked on a farm and in the coal mines; taught school; studied law; was admitted to the bar November 1, 1868, and commenced practice in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.; elected as a Democrat to the Fiftieth Congress (March 4, 1887-March 3, 1889); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1888 to the Fifty-first Congress; resumed the practice of law in Wilkes-Barre; judge of the court of common pleas 1892-1910; died in Atlantic City, N.J., August 17, 1910; interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County, Pa.
