Ramsey and served from December 7, 1840, to March 3, 1841; served as secretary of state of Pennsylvania 1843-1845, and was active in promoting the public-school system of Pennsylvania; died in Allegheny, Pa., on January 10, 1846; interment in Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Pa.
