Jonathan A. Saidel has been re-elected to his fourth consecutive four-year term as Philadelphia's City Controller. Jonathan is a graduate of Temple University and the Delaware Law School of Widener College. He is an attorney and certified public accountant in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, United States Tax Court, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Jonathan's career has moved him through the ranks of business and government. He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserve for six years. He was a partner in the law firm of Saidel, Sand and Saidel, and a partner in the accounting firm of Saidel and Company. Currently, he is Of Counsel to the law firm of Silverman Bernheim & Vogel. For three years he was counsel to the Democratic Chairman of the Appropriations Committee of the Senate of Pennsylvania and for four years counsel to the Chairman of the Labor and Industry Committee in the Senate.

Involved with numerous political causes and organizations, Jonathan serves on the boards of the Special Olympics, Boy Scouts, Salvation Army, and the Variety Club. He is presently on the Labor Advisory Board of American Capital Strategies Labor Research, Inc. He is a proud member of various ethnic organizations in the City and an active participant in all their parades and functions. He is a former treasurer of the AFL-CIO Committee for Judicial Retention. Jonathan serves as a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania's Fels Center of Government and teaches Government Finance as an Adjunct Professor in the MBA Program at Drexel University.

The recipient of numerous civic and community awards, Jonathan sees community tasks not only as a challenge, but as a personal responsibility. He has been honored as "Controller of the Year" from the PA City Controllers Association, by the State of Israel, the Philadelphia Police and Fire Departments, Vietnam Veterans, the Catholic War Veterans, and many other outstanding organizations.

Jonathan is the proud parent of four children: Hope, who graduated from Temple Law School; Nick, who graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and graduate of Georgetown University Law School; and twins Joshua who attends Drexel University and Jacqueline who attends Philadelphia public schools.
