| Info | I am proud to have served on the Creighton Elementary School District Governing Board since being appointed earlier this year. I ask for your vote so that I may continue for the next two years.
I am running for the Creighton Board to bring a progressive voice that understands our diverse community, and will work for an equal educational opportunity for all Creighton students. Our world is changing fast, and it is important that our students be able to do more than fill in the correct bubbles on a test, or regurgitate information. Much of the information we provide our students will be out of date by the time they go to college. We must instill a lifelong love of learning, and make certain that all students have the adequate building blocks of learning, such as reading and writing skills, math, and a strong critical thinking ability.
For the last four years, my full time job has been as a Research Associate for Children’s Action Alliance, a non-profit organization that researches and advocates on behalf of Arizona’s children, to our elected officials, state agency officials, and the general public. I understand the importance of involving families and the community in a child’s education, and I know that children learn English best when the entire family is given an opportunity to learn together. I am proud of our community education programs in Creighton, and will fight to maintain them. As the only fluent Spanish speaker on the Creighton Governing Board, I will continue to involve the community, and break down barriers so that all children can excel.
I ask for your vote so we can make Creighton schools the very best schools in Arizona. It has been a true pleasure and honor to serve on the board, and I ask for your support for another two year term.
