Info | Clennon Washington King, Sr., born in Daugherty County in Albany, Georgia to Allen James King and Annie Bowers King, he was a civil rights activist, Tuskeegee Institute student and chauffeur of Booker T. Washington. On August 18, 1918 in Milledgeville, Georgia he married Margaret Allegra Slater with whom he had seven sons, four of which would earn both national and international recognition. He ran a local grocery store and was a notable figure in Albany, Georgia helping establish the local chapter of the NAACP.
