| Info | Caroline is a proud Canadian who is passionate about the state of our environment, our ability to be safe in our homes and on our streets, the opportunities to grow our economy, and the role we play on the international stage. Caroline was born in Ottawa and has lived in many cities across Canada and Europe. Throughout her travels in North America, Europe and Africa she has met many diverse people and studied a variety of cultures. She believes we should embrace our ‘Canadian Citizenship’, not just the rights and privileges afforded to us as being Canadian, but also the roles and responsibilities of citizenship. If we can do this on our streets, in our communities, our cities, our provinces and throughout our country, we can ensure that this great country continues to lead, grow and be the land of opportunity 50 years in the future.
Caroline is running to enable and energize the people of Beaches-East York to realize that they have a voice in Ottawa and that together we can be heard.
Caroline completed her undergraduate degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Queen’s University where she was the President of the IEEE engineers' group. She started her career early in Defense Research and Information Technology, but quickly advanced into the Canadian Regional Manager position for a large software company. From there she went on to become a Director for an international IT firm. Caroline now works for herself as a Senior Management Consultant, helping clients to successfully implement progressive initiatives. Her career path has enabled her to be a successful businesswoman, an effective and efficient leader and to be agile in developing and implementing solutions, visions and strategies. She believes it is time to use these skills to build a better and safer Canada.
Her passion and belief in Canada’s ability to lead through example, in areas such as industry and the environment, and the role we can play on the world stage, began as a child. Her father, a Major General in the Canadian Armed Forces, was a large influence not only by imparting a strong understanding of citizenship, but also an understanding of defence and foreign policy.
Caroline has never stopped trying to absorb the world we live in whether it is in politics, philosophy, science or history. Doing an independent mini-thesis on 9th to 13th century manuscripts only touched on her passion for history and thus, while at University she studied Classical Studies. The mathematics of music and its relationship to philosophy is an area she would like to pursue. Truly, for Caroline there will never be enough time to learn what there is to know.
There is no better way to change the way you look at the world than through the eyes of children. Caroline and her husband Marco have two small children, Laura and Kevin, who are in primary school. The opportunities that await them are something that is to be protected and cherished. Caroline hopes that by living life to its fullest she will lead and teach her children to do the same thing. It is with that passion that she pursues politics, and engages in intellectual and physical pursuits like riding her horse Snider, reading, running, golfing, or travelling this great country and the world.
