InfoSidran is formerly the city attorney of Seattle. He ran a campaign for Seattle mayor in 2001, backed by business interests and the more conservative of Seattle leaders. He won the primary election, along with Greg Nickels, in defeating incumbent Paul Schell. Nickels edged Sidran in the general by less than two percent to become mayor.

In 2004, Sidran launched a longshot campaign for state attorney general, running as a Democrat. He put together a solid grassroots campaign, pulling even with assumed nominee Deborah Senn in the final days before the primary, earning endorsements from most major newspapers and the likes of Al Franken, with whom he attended school at Harvard. Sidran won in his home base of Seattle and was supported by moderate and conservative Democrats, but again lost by a sub-2% margin to Senn, who ultimately was soundly defeated by moderate Republican Rob McKenna in the general election.

Sidran was shortly courted for a rematch against Nickels in 2005, but did not run after Nickels adopted many of the pro-business ideas Sidran ran on in 2001. He was appointed Chair of the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission in March of 2005 by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
