InfoJudy has served as the Member of Parliament for Random–Burin–St. George's since 2008, and will again represent the Liberal Party during the 2015 federal election. Judy currently serves as the Liberal Whip in the 41st Parliament, and previously held the position of Deputy House Leader of the Liberal Official Opposition.

Prior to her work in federal politics, Judy served as a Member for Provincial Politics for Newfoundland and Labrador in the House of Assembly. Serving under three Premiers over a span of 11 years, Judy served as Minister of Development and Rural Renewal, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, and Minister of Education.

Judy’s academic background is in education and journalism, having earned a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland and an Honours Diploma in Radio Broadcast Arts from Lambton College in Sarnia, Ontario. Judy is married to Howard, and mom to three children – Carla, Jason, and Heidi.
