InfoTilly O'Neill-Gordon is a native of Escuminac, in the Miramichi area. She is the daughter of Tom and Carmel (Jimmo) O’Neill. Her family moved to the former town of Chatham in 1961, where she attended St. Michael’s Academy, graduating in 1967.

Following graduation, she attended Teachers’ College in Fredericton. She began teaching in 1970, and did so in her native village of Escuminac.

In 1972 she was transferred to Nelson-Miramichi followed by another transfer the next year to Chatham Head. There she remained for 15 years, teaching in the “little white school”. When this school closed officially in 1988, she was transferred to Ian Baillie Primary where she remained until retiring in 2003.

She re-entered the teaching profession a year later at Burnt Church, where she is currently on a leave of absence.

Tilly has four sisters, three of whom live in the Miramichi area and the other in Bathurst.

She has held many political positions in her community and province: president of Miramichi Bay PC Association, President of Miramichi Bay Du Vin PC Association, President of the Federal PC Association for Miramichi and Vice-president of NB PC Womens’ Association. She was elected MP for Miramichi in the federal election held on October 14, 2008.
