* When asked why she is running for President, Chicago suburbanite Elvena E. Lloyd-Duffie said she had three specific reasons.
'I am running for president because in 1989 I sensed a call from God almighty to be president,' Duffie said. 'I absolutely know and understand the function of the entire world and I'm also an accountant. It was clear to me that I was to run in 1996.'
Duffie said after performing an accounting audit on a St. Louis company she realized she could balance the budget in three to four days. She said it might take her several months to review our country's financial records.
'Once the books have been reviewed, (balancing the budget) can be done in three to four days,' Duffie said.
Duffie's foreign affairs policy is a different approach to world diplomacy.
'We need to make ourselves so appealing that (other countries) will want to copy us, then we won't have to negotiate and argue over who's right and who's wrong,' Duffie said.
Like many other candidates, Duffie said she wants to change the federal welfare system.
'Welfare is a disgusting and disgraceful thing,' Duffie said. 'Pity and compassion is stupidity without wisdom. Give their jobs to recipients and put the social workers on welfare. Everyone on welfare has lied to get on it.'
Duffie plans to use her husband, who lives in Shreveport, La., as her running mate.
'At first he wasn't sure, but he later decided he would do it,' Duffie said.
If elected, Duffie plans on giving free unlimited college tuition to anyone who wishes to pursue a higher education.
