InfoJames "Bubber" Epps, Jr., lifelong resident of Twiggs County, has announced his intention to run for a seat in the Georgia House of Representatives, serving District 140, in the November general election. Bubber, a Democrat, will run against Allen Freeman, the incumbent Republican who currently holds the House seat for District 140. Freeman has held his seat since 2005.

Bubber was educated in the Twiggs County school system and then attended Brewton Parker College in Mount Vernon, Georgia, where he received his Associates Degree. Bubber then earned a Bachelors of Science in Political Science and a Masters in Education from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. He also completed a post graduate certification program in Educational Administration at the University of Georgia.

Along with administrative positions in Twiggs and Wilkinson counties, Bubber has held teaching positions in Twiggs County and at Stratford Academy in Macon.

Married to his wife Kathryn for 41 years, the couple has three children and seven grandchildren. Bubber has been a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Dry Branch, Georgia for 58 years.

Road construction and the paving industry has been Bubber's calling since 1977. Epps Brothers, Inc. is the family-owned business for which Bubber served as President from 1994 to 2006. "Having owned a business and worked all my life in Middle Georgia, I am acutely aware of the concerns of the citizens of the 140th District and share these same concerns myself," said Bubber. Epps Brothers specializes in highway surface treatment.

Bubber has served on the Twiggs County Board of Tax Assessors, the Twiggs County Industrial Authority Board, and was Twiggs County Commissioner for two terms, the last of which he served as Chairman. He is currently the Twiggs County Representative for the Central Georgia Development Authority.

Bubber is concerned with the education budget cuts that have become a trend since 2003. "Georgia education needs change requiring financial commitment and emphasis on retaining our teachers and academics," he said.

Bubber is a team player and is dedicated to improving District 140. "Together with other who truly want to make a change for the better, I am committed to working toward a better 140th and a better Georgia," he said.
