InfoJim Davis is a 53 year-old 4th generation wheat farmer from the 4th Congressional District. Jim farms in the northern area of the 4th district, where he has also served 13 years as an elected Public Utility District Commissioner. Jim's lifelong experience in Central Washington uniquely qualifies him to represent Washington's 4th District during its current economic difficulties.


Education
Jim graduated from Coulee City High School and Eastern Washington University with a BA in Education and ROTC U.S. Army Commission. Jim is also a graduate of the Washington Ag-Forestry Education Foundation, & was a fellow at Resources for the Future's (RFF) National Center for Food & Ag Policy in Washington, D.C.


Leadership Experience
Douglas County Public Utility District
Since first being elected in 1986, Jim has served in every leadership position of the Washington Public Utility District Association, including Association President in 1993. As President of Douglas County PUD, Jim supported the negotiation of the largest aquatic Habitat Conservation Plan (HCP) ever characterized in the United States. A first for a Columbia River dam, this 50-year plan allows the operation and protection of Wells Dam from drawdown and breaching, and protects the Columbia River salmon from extinction.


Central Washington Grain Growers, Inc.
One of the 50 largest grain companies in North America, CWGG is Washington's largest grain cooperative. First elected to the board in 1982, Jim has served as the President of the Board of Directors since 1989.


Comprehensive Review of the Northwest Energy System
As a 1996 Gubernatorial Appointee, Jim served as a Steering Committee Member to advise the four Northwest Governors on electric industry restructuring issues affecting the future of the Bonneville Power Administration.


Northwest Renewable Resource Center
As a member of the Board of Directors from 1994 to 1997, Jim Davis worked with leaders of industry, Indian tribes, and environmental organizations to create forums for resolving natural resource management disputes.


United States Army
As an ROTC Graduate, Jim Davis served in the U.S. Army from 1969-1971. His service assignments included U.S. Army Field Artillery Officer Candidate School (OCS), Leadership Training Officer, Ft. Sill Oklahoma and the 1/12th Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division Korea. In this capacity Jim's artillery unit safeguarded the demilitarized zone between North and South Korea.

Family
Jim and his wife Lennie live on the family farm in rural Douglas County and farm with Jim's parents, Tom and Claudine, and his brother Jack. They have two grown children, Marla and Brad and one grandchild, Sadie. An outdoorsman and conservationist, Jim enjoys snowmobiling, boating, and trapshooting.
