Info | SENEY, George Ebbert, a Representative from Ohio; born in Uniontown, Fayette County, Pa., May 29, 1832; moved with his parents to Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, in November 1832; attended Norwalk (Ohio) Seminary; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1853 and practiced in Tiffin; judge of the court of common pleas in 1857; in July 1862, enlisted in the One Hundred and First Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry; was subsequently commissioned first lieutenant and acted as quartermaster of the regiment until near the close of the Civil War; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1876; elected as a Democrat to the Forty-eighth and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1883-March 3, 1891); was not a candidate for renomination in 1890; resumed the practice of his profession in Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio, where he died June 11, 1905; interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
