| Info | Nicholas B. Sparks was born in Jasper, Alabama on the second day of February 1980 to Gary and Evelyn Sparks of Saragossa, Alabama. Nestled in western sector of Walker County the Sparks family depended on work from one of Walker Counties biggest industries, Coal. His father, Gary, was employed as a state mine inspector, and his mother, Evelyn, worked as a medical assistant.
Nick and his brother, Jeff Sparks, were both reared on a small farm in Saragossa, where the Sparks family has resided for well over a century. Growing up on family land, Nick was taught the value of hard work from both his father and grandfather, Crellie Sparks. Crellie also worked in the coal mines, but returned home each day to tend the garden and small herd of cattle the family owned. Even though both men worked hard in industry and at home, they always made time for their family, which made a lasting impression on Nick.
The value of hard work that Nick learned from his family served to motivate him in his academic career and professional life. Working his way through college at Bevill State Community College, and then the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Nick graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance in 2003. He then achieved a lifelong dream of attending law school in 2004, when he was accepted into the Birmingham School of Law. Nick graduated in 2007 receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence,and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar.
Currently practicing as a sole practitioner in Jasper, Nick has been actively involved in the community. Nick’s sole passion in law and politics is to speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. A common hope of his campaign is to find those people from District 4 who feel that their voice is not being heard in Washington and give them a voice there.
Nick Sparks is a dynamic and driven individual with a drive to succeed and a willingness to learn; a common man who wants to make a difference and spark change in both his district and Washington.
