Info | Vance Warner Hansen
Vance, 69, was born in Sioux City, Iowa. He was divorced in 1973 and is survived by children Holden G. Hansen and Sarah Linda Hansen Jacobs, two brothers and five grandchildren. He named his children after literary characters: Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye and the Beautiful Princess Saralinda from James Thurbers The 13 Clocks. He worked in radio and television and taught high school prior to moving to Arizona in 1965 where he taught English at Glendale and Scottsdale Community Colleges. In the 1970s, he was the host of a local television program called World Literature. Upon retirement from teaching, Vance lived year-round in Alpine, which was heaven, for him. Vance had specified that no memorial service be held and asked that contributions in his memory be made to Glendale Community College or the Arizona Green Party.
