InfoDonald J. Trump was born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York to parents Fred and Mary Trump. He has three older siblings and one younger brother. Trump attended the New York Military Academy and the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania.

Following his father’s footsteps, Trump began a notable career as a real estate developer and businessman. He has written more than fourteen books. His first book, The Art of the Deal, was published in 1987. From 2004 to 2015, Trump hosted and produced the popular television show, The Apprentice.

Trump announced his candidacy on June 16, 2015. He accepted the Republican nomination in July of 2016. On November 8, 2016, Trump was elected President. He was inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States on January 20, 2017.

The work of the Trump Administration included reforming the U.S. tax code; renegotiating trade agreements with Mexico, Canada, China, Japan, and South Korea; expanding the military; defeating the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS); responding to the opioid crisis; improving access to healthcare for veterans; responding to the COVID-19 global pandemic; appointing Federal judges, including the nomination of three U.S. Supreme Court justices; and lowering the cost of prescription drugs.

In 2019 President Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for abuse of power by soliciting the interference of Ukraine in the 2020 U.S. presidential election and obstruction of Congress by directing defiance of certain subpoenas issued by the House of Representatives. A trial in the U.S. Senate found the President not guilty of the charges brought against him.

In 2021 President Trump was impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives for having incited an insurrection against the government of the United States.

President Trump has been married to his wife, Melania, since 2005. Together they have one son, Barron. Trump also has four adult children, Donald Jr., Ivanka, Eric, and Tiffany. He has 10 grandchildren.

I don't really care about personality or tone, so sure, I'll vote for a Democratic socialsit who says questionable things and offends suburbanites.

It wouldn't actually be Donald Trump specifically, but a hypothetical left-wing Perot type.

CA Pol Junkie: <q 10271="">Suppose in 2016, Trump ran as a democrat. He was Hillary's only opponent and he was the Bernie Sanders of that race (democratic socialist) does anyone think he would be able to win a democratic primary or let alone a general election, and would my democrat friends on this site vote for him.

Your hypothetical does not work as Trump is in 1,000 ways incongruous with both the Sanders and Clinton factions of the party. If we take a step back and ask if we would support a nominee who was unqualified and a terrible human being only interested in himself, destructive to democratic (small-d) institutions, but who would support policies favored by Democrats... I just hope that I am never put in such a position. If the Republican nominee were a reasonable and thoughtful person like Romney or Kasich I would have to think about crossing over.

That was my reasoning for not voting for President this year. I reluctantly voted for Trump in 2016. I voted for Ted Cruz in the primary. I didn't think Trump would govern like a conservative, and while he may have he doesn't act like a normal human being. He acts like the things I hate most about my party.

I was disgusted by Trump back in the '80s and ever since. When he was flirting with running as a Democrat, I was completely disgusted. I would have never voted for him. I would vote for a moderate to even somewhat conservative Republican over him, and voted third party otherwise.

I don't think Trump's shtick would have worked as well with Democrats as it has with Republicans. I think the possibility of him winning a Democratic party would have been very low, but not impossible.

No matter how you feel about Trump, his press statement this evening was horrifying. He said that votes were "coming out of nowhere" for Biden. Essentially he said that votes not cast for him were fraudulent and should be rejected.

Wouldn't it be great if Trump could join Washington and Monroe as presidents re-elected unanimously?

If what he is saying is true, why don't the Democrats steal an extra 3 or 4 seats in the Senate and just take full control of government?

Trump is just disgusting. It would be nice if some Republicans in Congress would take a stand for the United States and reject what Trump just said but I don't expect more than three or four Republicans to rise above Trump's level.

I don't know how many people here have ever worked in a polling place on election day. I have done that, and although things may be different in different states, one thing that we had to do was to complete the process with a Democratic judge and a Republican judge there. The times I worked in the polling place, not a single ballot was processed on election night without having a judge from each party observing. If one judge went to the bathroom, counting stopped until that judge returned.

Trump's statement that votes were being counted by Democrats without Republican observers is, as far as I know, patently false.

RP: I don't know why anyone is surprised. He's been broadcasting this for months if not years.

Well in general I would distinguish between something said during a campaign and something said after the vote is counted. BrentinCO's video speaks to that too.

Yes, the stakes are high, and in times like this the strength of our nation is on the line.

When a man unprincipled in private life desperate in his fortune, bold in his temper, possessed of considerable talents, having the advantage of military habits—despotic in his ordinary demeanour—known to have scoffed in private at the principles of liberty—when such a man is seen to mount the hobby horse of popularity—to join in the cry of danger to liberty—to take every opportunity of embarrassing the General Government & bringing it under suspicion—to flatter and fall in with all the non sense of the zealots of the day—It may justly be suspected that his object is to throw things into confusion that he may “ride the storm and direct the whirlwind. - Alexander Hamilton, 1792 - [Link]
