InfoRepresentative Steve Brown, a Democrat, represents parts of St. Louis County (District 73) in the Missouri House of Representatives. These areas include the municipalities of Clayton, Richmond Heights, Maplewood and smaller portions of Brentwood and Webster Groves.

Prior to his service in the Missouri House, Representative Brown served for ten years as an Assistant Attorney General under then Attorney General Jay Nixon. During his tenure in that office, he prosecuted both a variety of consumer protection and criminal cases and helped to develop and implement Missouri’s Telemarketing No-Call Program. He also investigated gas station price gouging following the September 11th attacks, closed down dangerous nursing homes and helped create the Missouri Foundation for Health. He argued and handled matters at all levels of Missouri Courts from the Circuit Court to Missouri Supreme Court level as well as in Federal District Court and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. When he resigned from the Attorney General’s Office, he had attained the position of Deputy Chief Counsel.

A dedicated public servant, Representative Brown is active in his community in many ways. This includes serving as Vice-President of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) St. Louis Chapter. In 2006, AJC awarded him the prestigious Shalom Comey Fellowship where he joined a group of national Jewish leaders on fact-finding and goodwill meetings with government officials in Israel, Germany and Morocco. Representative Brown also serves on the Board of Trustees for Blackburn College and was a founding Board member of Missouri Votes Conservation (MVC). He is also a member of the Missouri Bar and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. And along with his wife, is an active participant in their synagogue, Central Reform Congregation

Representative Brown graduated from Horton Watkins (Ladue) High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Denison University in Ohio in 1989 and his J.D. from Washington University in 1995.

Born February 11, 1967 in St. Louis, Representative Brown currently resides in Clayton with his wife, Rebecca, and their two children, Ben and Sarah.
