Info | Rev. Joseph L. Autenrieth, fondly known as "Pastor" was born in Festus, Missouri. He attended elementary and high school in Jefferson County, and enrolled in the Brooks Bible Institute upon moving to St. Louis, Missouri.
At a later time in his life, he attended Harris Stowe College and enjoyed taking classes in which he could debate with the professor.
During World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve, and was fortunate to be stationed in St. Louis where he was able to attend college and do evangelistic work.
He founded the Church of St. Louis at the age of 19. In 1948, he married Maxine Poor, and together they founded St. Louis Christian Academy in 1952.
During his ministry, Pastor spoke frequently across the United States sharing the testimony of our church and the charismatic renewal that took place in the 1960's.
Pastor and Sister Maxine have two children, Toni (Evans) and Aaron who attended St. Louis Christian Academy all 13 years, and graduated from Missouri Baptist University. They have three grandchildren, Philip Evans, Casey and Ryan Autenrieth.
Pastor was with us long enough to know of his great grandson, Isaac Evans.
Pastor served as senior pastor of the Church of St. Louis until his death in 2001. Her was an ardent SLCA Cougars Basketball fan, and will always be remembered for his "Hubba" "Hubba" at the games.
He loved to travel, and shared his love of the ocean and palm trees with hundreds of others through many group trips to Florida. However, his greatest passion was preaching and sharing the gospel with others.
