InfoNDarlene Senger is a successful mom, businesswoman, civic & community volunteer and leader. Darlene cares deeply about us and has dedicated herself to making our communities a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Now Darlene Senger is seeking your support and your vote to serve us, the citizens of Illinois’ as an independent-minded, reform driven State Comptroller.

Growing up in a blue-collar household in Hammond, Indiana, Darlene learned early the values of hard work, honesty and integrity. Darlene worked her way through Purdue University, earning a finance degree and then earning her MBA from DePaul University.

After college, Darlene went to work at First National Bank of Chicago then later SEI Consulting. Rising through the ranks, Darlene ultimately became Vice President, managing a department of financial analysts that developed innovative services and products.

Darlene’s record of civic and community volunteerism and leadership began with her desire to help her neighbors by serving on her local Homeowner’s Association Board. Darlene was then asked by friends and neighbors to seek a seat on the Naperville City Council.

While serving on the Naperville City Council, Darlene worked to reduce property tax rates, improve the city’s infrastructure and enhance the community’s public safety network.

In 2008, Darlene ran for State Representative in what was then the most expensive State House campaign in suburban history. Darlene’s Democrat opponent, funded by powerful Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, spent over $750,000 against her. Though outspent, Darlene’s grassroots effort and hard work paid off, winning by over 600 votes, even while President Obama handily won the same district.

Both the Chicago Tribune and Daily Herald have previously endorsed Senger for her efforts to improve education, fix the state’s broken pension system and create good paying jobs here at home. Darlene has received awards from both the Illinois Chamber of Commerce and Illinois Farm Bureau for her work to hold down taxes and promote economic opportunity.

In Springfield, Darlene has fought for the taxpayers, families, seniors, young adults and children of our communities. Darlene will take her strong work ethic and common sense approach to problem solving to the office of Comptroller, where she will work to reduce government waste while continuing to protect needed safety net programs, and find innovative ways to make government more efficient and effective.

Darlene’s most important job has always been being a mother. Darlene is mother to two children: Eric and Michelle are both graduates of the University of Illinois and both are currently working here in our community.
