Info | Jerry Stewart Lausmann
He ran for mayor of Medford in 1986 and was mayor for six consecutive terms.
Mr. Lausmann is the former Mayor of Medford serving for 12 years in this capacity. An editorial in the Medford Mail Tribune wrote that Jerry Lausmann has been more than a mayor in Medford. He is a benefactor, a cheerleader, and a citizen who know that a city is not about concrete and glass, a city is about people. Jerry Lausmann will always be Mr. Medford to the community.
During his tenure as mayor, Lausmann brought kids into city government through his Mayors Youth Advisory Committee; he brought music lovers to town through his work as the co-founder of Jazz Jubilee; he made City Hall a friendly place to do business; and he guided the city through tremendous growth. To honor Jerry Lausmann, the City Council named the citys new office building the Lausmann Annex.
Lausmann has spent most of his life in Medford. His father started a sawmill that was eventually named KOGAP, and Jerry began work there in 1961. The sawmill has closed, but the company re-organized and continues with Lausmann as its president and CEO.
Jerry Lausmann was appointed to the Board of Trustees in 1984 and continues to serve Southern Oregon University.
In addition to his work with the University, Jerry is a member of Rotary and the Navy League. When he is able to relax, he enjoys music and reading.
Jerry and his wife, Donnis, reside in Medford.
